Talk to RakeshHelpful information before choosing your insurance policy. Always check the insurer's current policy documents and conditions.
Ask Rakesh a questionIRCC currently requires at least $100,000 in emergency medical coverage, with insurance valid for at least one year from entry. The policy must cover health care, hospitalization and repatriation, and meet other IRCC conditions. Review the official requirements before buying.
Not always. IRCC also permits qualifying policies from certain foreign insurers authorized by OSFI to provide accident and sickness insurance, provided the policy meets the applicable requirements. Eligibility should be verified using current government guidance.
Some plans offer coverage for eligible stable pre-existing conditions, while others exclude them. Eligibility, stability periods, medical questions and exclusions differ by insurer and plan. Carefully review the policy wording.
A deductible is the amount you may need to pay toward an eligible claim before the insurer contributes, as specified in the policy. Higher deductibles can lower premiums, but they may increase your out-of-pocket costs.
Term life generally provides coverage for a selected period, such as 10, 20 or 30 years. Whole life is designed to provide lifelong coverage if the policy remains in force, and may include cash value features. Availability and costs vary.
